Strictly Come Dancing made its return to BBC One on Saturday night as it kicked off the 19th series with the reveal of who the celebrities would be paired with. Karen Hauer was paired with actor Greg Wise, however, it left a sour taste in former partner Jamie Laing’s mouth.

Jamie Laing, best known for appearing in the reality TV series Made in Chelsea, was paired with Karen Hauer last year on series 18 of Strictly Come Dancing.

Appearing on the recent episode of Sunday Brunch alongside Desiree Burch and Josh Widdicombe, Jamie revealed he “hates” the fact Karen is now paired with someone new.

Tim Lovejoy introduced the topic of Strictly returning and said: “Jamie Strictly last night, you were on Strictly last year, you made the final, you shared the same partner that Simon had, Karen, did you see the pairings?”

Jamie agreed and said: “I saw all the pairings, I think it’s amazing Karen is looking great, I feel Tom Fletcher is going to be good.”

Talk soon turned to Jamie’s former dance partner Karen Hauer, as Simon Rimmer said: “Are you prepared for the horrible fall-out for not being on it this year.

“Because what will happen is, you’re saying the same as I did ‘love Karen, she’s great, I’m special,” interrupting Simon, Jamie said: “No, I hate her.”

He chuckled and continued: “So you watched the first time when she’s having her little in-jokes with her new partner, and you go ‘forgotten so quickly,”

Jamie laughed and joked: “I haven’t had a text, I haven’t had a phone call it’s rude, Karen, you’re a horrid, horrid person.

“Karen, you have a horrible soul,” Jamie continued to joke, with the rest of the studio laughing along with him.

Jamie also spoke about his odds when he was on the show and said: “When I was in the semi-finals, JJ Chalmers went out before me.

“The bookies’ odds were better and more in favour for him he was outreaching the final than I was to reach the final, and he was out of the competition.

“That’s how much everyone didn’t want me in the final!”, despite the bookmaker’s odds, Jamie and Karen made it to the final last year.

Jamie recently compared himself to a “jealous boyfriend” whilst talking to Lorraine on her morning chat show.

Lorraine asked: “Will it be hard for you to watch someone else dance with Karen, we don’t know who it’s going to be yet.”

Jamie replied: “I’m furious. Yeah, I’m furious. I mean, I’ll be jealous. I’m like a jealous boyfriend at home watching her dance.

“It’s incredible, and I wish them all the luck in the world because it’s an incredible show.”

After the 19th series kicked off on Saturday night, bookmakers released their odds on who was favourite to win and who was favourite to leave the competition first.

EastEnders actor Rose Ayling-Ellis is the new favourite to win with Ladbrokes at 7/2, as bets flooded in over the last week.

Rhys Stephenson and Tom Fletcher are also in the running to win the show, with Rhys coming in at 4/1 and Tom at 6/1.

The contestants who are the favourites to be eliminated first include Judi Love at 7/2, Sara Davies at 4/1 and Nina Wadia at 5/1.

Sunday Brunch airs Sundays at 9:30am on Channel 4.
