Firefly Lane: Katherine Heigl reflects on second season
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Firefly Lane.
Season two of Firefly Lane has been a real tearjerker as Kate Mularkey (played by Sarah Chalke) dealt with an aggressive cancer diagnosis.
Husband Johnny (Ben Lawson), daughter Marah (Yael Yurman), bestie Tully (Katherine Heigl) and the rest of the family pulled together to ensure she was as happy as she could be… but Kate’s best friend wasn’t always there.
At the end of season one, Kate went to Tully’s apartment to tell her the news to find she had already left for a job.
The lifelong friends hadn’t spoken for more than a year at this point which made the moment even more upsetting.
As the first half came out months ago, some fans may not remember exactly what stopped them from being friends during this time in their lives.
What did Tully do to Kate in Firefly Lane?
Tully was supposed to be looking after Kate’s daughter Marah at her apartment while she and Johnny were out.
When the girl Marah fancies calls, however, she convinces Tully to let her go to the movies, thinking she wouldn’t be too late.
Thinking she was safe, Tully had a few glasses of wine at home when she got a call from a terrified Marah.
She ended up at a party with strangers, with her friend nowhere to be seen, so she was hiding in a cupboard.

Upon hearing this, Tully jumped into her car and drove to save Marah from the dreaded party.
But on the way home Tully got into a car accident, and while it wasn’t her fault, she was arrested for driving under the influence.
Marah was also seriously hurt so Kate and Johnny were furious at Tully for being so irresponsible.
If you’re a fan of the book series, then you will know the reason for Kate and Tully not speaking is very different.
In the novel, their friendship splintered as Kate grew jealous of Tully as Marah idolised her.
The pair were invited onto her show The Girlfriend Hour but Kate soon realises they are part of a segment about overbearing mothers.
She storms off and Johnny quits the show as its producer, leading to the friends losing contact.
Firefly Lane is available to watch on Netflix.
