Emmerdale's boasting its fair share of baddies what with murderous Meena Jutla and now newbie Russ Posner.
The ex-hubby of Wendy Posner, Russ, may have deceived Victoria Sudgen with his happy families act, but viewers can see that the dastardly villain has come to the village with nothing but vengeance and money in mind.
Former Hustle actor Rob Jarvis plays the newcomer and he recently spoke about his experience joining the soap – including the fact that he felt "wary" about joining a show as popular as Emmerdale.
"You are always slightly wary going into a show that's such an institution, that everyone has been working so hard on for so many years," the actor explained.
"Everybody knows it! It felt a bit like a first day at school but it's been a complete joy," he added.
Dramatic episodes that'll air next week will see Wendy and Victoria held at gunpoint in The Hide. As the police arrive on the scene, the situation escalates into a full-blown siege, leaving the two women fearing for their lives.
Outside, Jacob, Dan and Bob hear a shot ring out, but viewers will have to wait to see what has happened.
When asked what his character is hoping to achieve during the siege, Rob said: "I don’t think he wants to shoot anybody, he doesn’t even want it to escalate to that degree, he just needs the money. He sees the gun as a sort of last resort really in terms of getting that money.
"I guess he would be capable of using the gun if push came to very big shove as he really is desperate. I can confirm then there is a gunshot, what has he done?!"

Despite some initial nerves, Rob confirmed that he's had a great time filming so far.
"It’s been great fun to film. It's always good playing a character like Russ. I like playing a baddy, they are the most fun. When you get a bit of high energy danger like the siege scenes it's just fantastic.
"I think all actors are essentially big kids and with scenes like these it's a step up from Cowboys and Indians."
He's particularly enjoyed his scenes with Susan Cookson who plays his former flame Wendy.

"She's a complete joy to work with. We spoke quite a bit before I came on set about our scenes and how we wanted to play it. She's really looked after me and been a great pal.
"Everybody that I have worked with has been really welcoming and really lovely. I have had such a nice time, it's been great!"
Susan agreed, saying that Rob "has just been amazing" and "a joy to work with." She even went as far as to say it felt like a "reenactment of The Sopranos."
