The singer’s new album, Subtract, will be released two days later on May 5.

The documentary’s official synopsis reads: “It will take viewers on a journey around the world spotlighting how an unlikely child with a stutter rose to fame to become one of the biggest global music superstars and how his chart-topping hits were born.”

The series covers everything from his early busking gigs captured on a camera phone to massive stadium concerts around the world.

Viewers will also hear from music entrepreneur Jamal Edwards, who helped the star break out with his first hit, The A Team.

The singer said: “I’ve always been very guarded in my personal and private life; the only documentary I’ve ever made has been one that focused on my songwriting.

“Disney approached me to make a four-part documentary, and it felt like the right time to open the door and let people in. I hope people enjoy it.”

In the trailer, Ed is heard saying: “Ginger hair, really short, his stutters…that guy doesn’t become a pop star.

“It’s so unlikely, you just have to work harder as there is always going to be someone who wants it more than you.”

The Sum of It All airs on Disney Plus from May 3.
