Sharon (played by Letitia Dean) has been enjoying a secret affair with Kheerat (Jaz Deol) for several weeks after the unlikely duo sought comfort in one another over their hardships. At the moment, only Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal). knows about her son’s dalliance with the EastEnders stalwart, so most of Walford is still unaware that the former landlady of the Queen Vic has a new man on her arm. However, during the latest episode of the BBC soap, it was hinted history could be set to repeat itself, with a possible pregnancy on the horizon.
The cougar of Walford already has two children, of which one of them – Denny Rickman (Bleu Landau) – was tragically killed in the soap’s 35th-anniversary episodes.
At the same time the youngster died, the stalwart gave birth to her second son, Albie, who she conceived with Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters).
This pregnancy came about as the pair embarked on a passionate affair behind Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden) back and when it was announced a baby was on the way, the gangster was sure he was the father.
Once again, Sharon has found herself enjoying a romance with a man who is much younger than her and it doesn’t seem to be fazing her.
But will she be forced to rethink her seductive ways when she discovers she is expecting her third child with Kheerat?
During Monday night’s episode, Kheerat arrived at the gym, which his lover owns, and spoke to her about their relationship.
“I wasn’t expecting you here,” Sharon said as she clocked her toyboy walking down the stairs, to which she added: “Come in for a quick session, have you?”
“I could be tempted,” he replied, before telling his mistress her new establishment was looking “good” as a euphemism in order to compliment her.
“Only good? You’re going to have to try harder than that if you want a discount on your membership,” the gym owner remarked.
“And there’s me thinking I would get it for free,” the businessman told her, but she reminded him he was “sleeping with the owner.”
I rather like sneaking around
“Yes, about that,” Kheerat replied ominously, asking his older lover: “You haven’t told anyone about us, have you?”
Sharon tried to lighten the mood as she joked: “Oh, don’t tell me you’re married and your wife and kids are coming into town?”
“No, it’s Ben [Mitchell – Max Bowden],” the businessman told Sharon, adding: “We’ve got a few work things going [on].
“And he made it very clear to me he and I can’t do business if you and I [are sleeping together],” he continued to explain.
“How very grown-up of him,” the stalwart hit back, with her lover saying: “I’m not going to let him dictate who I spend time with.”
“But, I just think it would be wise for us to keep things on the down-low,” Kheerat said, as he wanted to keep the affair under wraps.
“So, what you’re saying is if this remains a thing [between us], we’re going to have to sneak around in the shadows?” Sharon asked.
The stalwart quickly added: “I’m not having a dig, I’m just establishing the ground rules. I rather like sneaking around.”
“Well then, I will stop by later,” the businessman remarked with a cheeky grin on his face, as his lover said: “You do that.”
However, sneaking around was exactly how Sharon became pregnant with Keanu’s child, so will history repeat itself once more?
In upcoming scenes, Kheerat’s focus will shift from Sharon to thinking about the love of his life, Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer).
The latter was murdered by her husband, Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith), last year when she was meant to be running off with Kheerat.
It will be during one of his rendezvous with his mistress that the businessman will talk about the death of his former lover.
Sharon will begin to understand just how much her lover is hurting, but might hold off from calling things off when she starts to show the signs of being pregnant.
How will her toyboy react if he discovers he is going to be a father with a woman who is much older than him?
Taking to Twitter, viewers watching the affair unfold at home have been sharing their thoughts on the new coupling.
One fan wrote on the social media platform: “#Eastenders can you please stop putting weird cringe-worthy couples together. Sharon and Kheerat, no, just no.
Another added: “Although it’s more likely a bit of fun between them rather than something serious I really like Kheerat and Sharon. The dynamic.”
A third posted: “I hate Kheerat and Sharon together so much #eastenders,” whilst a fourth commented: “Mother of the year Sharon, going off to s**g Kheerat #EastEnders.”
EastEnders continues Tuesday at 7:30pm on BBC One.
