EastEnders spoilers: Linda Carter spirals out of control as her drinking takes over

LINDA Carter's alcohol addiction takes over again following her return to Albert Square.

Next week in EastEnders, the former Vic landlady clearly struggles and worries many other residents.

As the Carter clan prepared to say goodbye to Tina, weeks after her body was found under the floorboards of the Argee Bhajee, Linda (played by returning actress Kellie Bright) got wind of her sister-in-law's murder and came back to Walford.

But things were immediately tense with her estranged husband Mick (Danny Dyer) as the latter found comfort in the form of Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks).

Worse still, Janine actually convinced Linda to let her marriage go and file for divorce – which she eventually did.

However, in upcoming scenes of the BBC One soap, Linda finds it hard to move on and, after many outbursts including a fight with Janine, turns to alcohol.

The day of Stuart's surgery arrives and Linda is spotted by the new father sneaking alcohol into a drink.

This leads to him confiding in Rainie about his own past addiction to painkillers as he admits he is terrified of relapsing after his operation.

Linda's reliance on booze has torn her family apart in the past and was first noticed when she struggled to accept her son Ollie's autism diagnosis.

This was only worsened with Mick's panic attacks and her own fears that her cancer may have returned.

She was even caught drunk driving outside the school gates.

While she has tried to take the steps towards recovery, Linda has relapsed multiple times.

But could Nancy be of help in her struggle?
