Corries Roy death fears as he makes final farewells before big operation

Coronation Street favourite Roy Cropper (David Neilson) prepares for the worst next week as he gets ready for his operation.

The café owner has been struggling with his health in recent weeks.

As Freddie the dog goes in for his operation, his niece Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) reveals to Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) that Roy’s sleepwalking again as he worries about his own surgery.

Realising he’s been sleepwalking and left the cafe door open Roy, Nina and Evelyn go out in search of Freddie.

Roy later tells Nina about his operation and hands Evelyn a stack of letters for her to distribute should he die.

Evelyn sifts through Roy’s letters until she finds the one addressed to he and she holds it up to the light, desperate to know what it says.

In the hospital, Evelyn squeezes a nervous Roy’s hand and wishes him luck as he’s wheeled away for his operation.

Evelyn reads Roy’s letter, touched to realise how much she means to him.

As she heads to the hospital to admit her own feelings, she’s put out to find Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) already at Roy’s bedside with a special surprise of her own.

Will Evelyn get the opportunity to open up to Roy?

In recent scenes, viewers watched Evelyn persuade Roy to accompany her to her Salsa class.

Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) realised she had her work cut out as the duo took to the dancefloor.

With their salsa lesson underway, Roy clutched his chest, admitted that he didn't feel well and hurried out.

Evelyn later called in the café and chided Roy for abandoning her mid-salsa lesson.

Roy reiterated that he felt unwell but refused to elaborate and Evelyn left in a huff.

Fans will have to wait and see if Roy makes it through his operation.
