Nearly three decades ago, Mamma Mia star Colin Firth strode out of a cold lake wearing a billowing white blouse in a scene from the 1995 TV series Pride & Prejudice.
He certainly made a splash, as he then walked up to his future bride Elizabeth Bennett (Jennifer Ehle). Ten million viewers were glued to the series and were stricken by ‘Darcymania’. The scene was even voted one of the Top 100 Greatest TV Moments of all Time, and voted as the most memorable moment in British TV drama.
Now as Bridgerton season two arrives, it pays homage to the iconic scene.
A spoiler pic shows Lord Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey, as he emerges from the water with his shirt clinging and very much a thirst trap.
The Viscount is all set to be the star of the second season, stepping into the shoes of Regé-Jean Page who frequently went topless as the Duke.
The actor has talked about preparing for the role, and how he felt the need to get fit!

"Stepping into the shoes that Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page wore and led with so gracefully last season has taught me a lot. Taking on that responsibility has been amazing for so many reasons. This season required a lot of staying calm and steady and ready.
“It’s kept me on my toes. I got really fit, I made sure to eat well and get loads of sleep, and everything else just seemed to fall into place. I am just so aware that these parts don’t come around often and am forever grateful. And I’m excited to pass this on to the next Bridgerton sibling.”
And as for steamy scenes between Anthony and love interest Kate (played by newcomer Simone Ashley), he describes it as “animal primitivism and a wild attraction.”
Jonathan and Simone have worked with intimacy coordinator Elizabeth Talbot on the romantic scenes, and he teases: “It’s amazing what you can do with a half-inflated netball. I’m learning things every year.”
Show creator Shonda Rhimes has admitted that fans will miss Regé-Jean Page, saying: “I know that people are missing the Duke from Season One. Everybody fell in love with the Duke last season.”
But she promises: “The Duke was amazing in Season One, Anthony is amazing in Season Two, and that's the beauty of it.”
The first episode will be dropped on Netflix on March 25, 2022.
