What diet is Jennifer Lopez on?

“What you eat doesn’t just affect your body; it can also affect the way your skin looks,” Jennifer Lopez told Hello! in 2016. No wonder the triple-threat superstar looks like she hasn’t aged since 1999.

Obviously, you don’t get a body like J. Lo’s by scarfing down the McDonald’s Dollar Menu. That’s why the Selena star relies on a professional. “I have her eating very clean because she needs really good fuel for all the things that she’s doing,” her trainer Tracy Anderson told People in 2016. “It’s all organic and it’s all very well thought out, with the balance of very high quality proteins and a lot of nutrient-dense food.”

So what does “eating very clean” consist of? According to a People article from 2015, Jennifer Lopez kicks the day off with a shake. Her go-to is a berry smoothie that consists of three different kinds of berries, ice, Greek yogurt, cinnamon, honey, ice cubes, fresh lemon juice, and a scoop of protein powder.

For lunch, it’s a kale salad with toasted pumpkin seeds, crumbled queso, fresh lemon juice, a minced shallot, and olive oil. A single apple covers her snack, and dinner is a boneless, skinless grilled chicken breast, with sautéed Brussels sprouts, and baked yams with sea salt. The Bronx native averages 1,392 calories a day. Now, that’s dedication.

Dodd Romero, another one of Lopez’s trainers (yes, she has more than one), told Us Weekly in 2019 that Jennifer Lopez “drinks a minimum of seven glasses a day” of fresh lemon water. He also claims that the “Jenny From The Block” singer completely avoids processed foods and gets her energy from the aforementioned clean foods. Her staples? Egg whites, salmon, white meat turkey, chicken breast, grass-fed beef, sweet potatoes, brown rice, quinoa, rice bread and oatmeal. She also consumes about a handful of nuts a day. Her weekly cheat meal? “I think she likes cookies,” Romero says.
