Piers Morgan says he was thanked by the Royal Family for ‘standing up for them’

Piers Morgan certainly isn't one to keep secrets, especially when it comes to receiving "Royal gratitude".

The former Good Morning Britain host has landed another bombshell, clamming that he had received messages on behalf of the Royal Family that expressed "gratitude someone was standing up for them".

He alleged contact had been made following the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tell-all televised discussion with Oprah Winfrey.

The Life Stories host made the shocking admission during an Billy Bush, with the show Extra due to air on Tuesday evening.

When asked if any of the Royal Family had got in touch with him in the wake of the interview last month, Piers didn't hold back with his his candid answer.

He replied: "I've had some messages communicated to me on behalf on several members of the Royal Family."

In spite of the revelation he remained coy when it came to further details, reframing from naming specific Royal Family members who had reached out to him.

Piers abruptly said: "I'm not going to go into who it was… but gratitude that somebody was standing up."

His lack of empathy seemed to fire up an on air debate in the newsroom, with weatherman Alex Beresford taking a number of swipes at Piers, after he'd adopted a very opposing view on the matter.

Alex was stopped in his tracks as an angry Piers got up from his seat and stormed off set, refusing to listen to the meteorologist.
