Zara McDermott looks very different with 90s layered brunette hair and a fringe

There’s been a real 90s hair resurgence this year. Celebs like Helen Flanagan, Lucy Watson and even Kim Kardashian have been quick to recreate styles from Pamela Anderson and Jennifer Aniston (aka Rachel Green).

Now giving a 90s layered look a go is former Made in Chelsea and Love Island star Zara McDermott. The 24 year old swapped her usual one-length blonde hair for a choppy style featuring a short curtain fringe. She also noticeably went several shades darker by trading her highlighted blonde lengths for a chocolate brown hue.

Zara looked incredible, but the new look wasn’t permanent. Appearing in clips alongside her Made in Chelsea boyfriend Sam Thompson, Zara said the change is the result of a wig. It also doesn’t look like Zara liked the results of the temporary transformation, saying in the Instagram Story video: "Dying at myself with brown hair. I look like someone, but I can't figure out who it is."

Sam offered up a comparison, shouting from off-screen: "Priscilla Presley!"

"Do you actually think? A bit of a compliment, actually," Zara said back. "I can't work out if I like the colour on me or not. Do I dye my hair this colour or not?"

Zara hasn’t yet taken the plunge and gone permanently to the dark side, as the star can be seen posing for a new Instagram grid snap where her hair looks blonder than ever.

Considering she has dark, ashy blonde roots, she’s been quite clever with her choice of blonde colour. She’s opted to keep the bulk of her base colour a natural blonde and has only highlighted the front sections of her hair to give brightness to her complexion. Very low maintenance.

Blonde really is the top summer colour trend in the celeb world, so we can see why Zara is sticking to her roots. Only the other day, long-term brunette Catherine Zeta-Jones decided to jump on the trend and give a platinum bob a go.

Though the new blonde looks suits the actress perfectly, we don’t think the look is a permanent feature for her either. The bob is likely the result of a wig which Catherine has been wearing on the set of her new TV show, National Treasure.

We wonder who will transform their hair next?
