Reese Witherspoon’s daughter Ava gets new pup after death of dog Pepper

Reese Witherspoon’s daughter, Ava Phillippe, is introducing her new pup Benji, nearly a week after her beloved French bulldog, Pepper, died of cancer.

The 21-year-old shared on Instagram on Sunday that she adopted the rescue dog from the Best Friends Animal Society in southern Utah, and brought him home on the same day Pepper passed.

“He loves to cuddle and meet new friends (human & canine) and has quickly adjusted to life in his new home environment,” Phillippe said of her new pooch. “Benji also enjoys squeaky toys, outdoor adventures, and anything he is allowed (or not allowed) to eat. He is the happiest, smartest boy, and I’m so grateful to be his person.”

She added, “Even though we just entered each other’s lives, I feel like I’ve known Benji forever. I’m super excited for many adventures with this guy by my side!”

Phillippe said that she knows Benji is part Border Collie, but is unsure with which other breeds he is mixed. She invited her fans to guess, and many commented, “Jack Russell Terrier.”

Witherspoon, 44, has not yet commented or posted about her family’s newest pet.

On Oct. 20, the “Little Fires Everywhere” star shared she was “heartbroken” over the loss of Pepper.

“My goodness, she was such a loyal and devoted family member,” she wrote on Instagram. “I am so heart broken, but I am also deeply grateful for all the love and comfort she brought our family.”
