Kate Middleton has ‘hands on’ parenting approach says expert
Kate Middleton, 38, and Prince William, also 38, met while studying at university. Since marrying in 2011, they have had three children who are regularly seen with them at events and engagements. An expert has commented on what parenting techniques they use.
While many people in the spotlight like to keep their children private, the couple’s children often join them at public events.
Their most recent outing as a family of five was to a special pantomime performance in London.
Kate and William can be seen walking down the red carpet holding their children’s hands.
Being members of the Royal Family means that parenting can come with some strict rules.

Parenting expert Sophie Pickles exclusively told Express.co.uk that although Kate has added new techniques into her parenting style, she also follows a lot of traditional rules.
She said: “While Kate’s parenting style may be avant-garde compared to others in the royal family, she does actually favour many traditional parenting techniques.
“The princes and princess have been raised to be polite, courteous and respectful of others.
“Kate isn’t afraid to be strict if necessary and the children will follow household ‘rules’ and adhere to Kate and William’s expectations.

Kate Middleton steps back from ‘traditional’ parenting techniques [COMMENT]
“Kate herself has admitted that she is no “pushover” and understands the need to set boundaries and have high, but realistic, expectations of her children.”
However, the royal has added new techniques into her way of parenting George, Charlotte and Louis like showing affection in public, which once would have been frowned upon.
Sophie added: “Kate’s parenting style will certainly be a fresh perspective for the royal family.
“She has her finger on the pulse of the latest research where early childhood education is concerned and is very keen to take an active role in her children’s upbringing – something that is far from the norm for traditional royal families.
“While Kate values good behaviour and polite children, she also understands that children will be children and need to be allowed to run, play and make noise just as children are supposed to.
“Definitely a world away from the upbringing William and Harry will have experienced.”
When in public, the royal couple can be seen bending down to speak to their children on eye level.
This allows the children to know that they are equal to their parents and this technique is a way of showing respect to the children.
The parenting expert went on: “During a Canadian tour in 2016, Kate committed a royal ‘faux pas’ by crouching down to talk face-to-face with a young Prince George – the very same move that caused the Queen to reprimand William earlier that year.
“This shows that while Kate may hold great respect for the royal family’s many traditions when it comes to parenting her own children, she is the one that is going to make the rules.”
It was previously revealed that the couple uses a “chat sofa” with the children so that they can explain certain behaviour rather than telling them off.
This is just one way Kate has implemented new rules into her parenting.
Other techniques include hiring only one nanny to help out with the children rather than a team of staff.
Sophie added: “Kate is blazing a trail for the next generation of modern parents and it is very exciting to see.
“She isn’t afraid to show affection to her children in public and it is just one of the many things that makes her imminently more relatable to parents around the world.”
