BUYING wine can set you back a pretty penny – but not if you know how to spot the best bargain booze.
The cost of living crisis has seen food prices rising, and even Lurpak tubs of butter reaching over £7.
And the booze aisle of the supermarket has not escaped price rises either, so it's worth knowing the best tricks to save some cash.
Whether your supermarket of choice is Asda, Sainsbury's or elsewhere, there are tricks that can get you the best booze for less.
The Sun spoke to Jamie Goode, 54 creator of website and blog Wine Anorak, who revealed his four top tips for finding bargain wine at your local supermarket.
Stay away from famous brands and regions
It might be tempting to go for the big brands when out supermarket shopping.
But, Jamie said in order to get the best boozy bang for your buck, it is worth going for the lesser known brands and regions.

He said: "Stay away from the famous names, certain areas that are well known like Chabli, Burgundy.
"Go to regions that over-deliver on value for money, so non-famous Spanish regions, for example."
He added: "Chile is able to knock out good wines at cheap prices
"And the south of France, including Languedoc."

Choose your supermarket carefully
This may be an obvious one, but Jamie said the discount supermarkets were the best options for cheap wine.
"More famous supermarkets will often have higher margins on their wines," he said.
"But Aldi in particular has a very good range."
The quality of wines across all supermarkets is of a generally high standard currently, Jamie said, but he rates Tesco and Co-op as two particularly good places to head to for a cheaper tipple.
Have a Clubcard to hand if you're heading to Tesco to make sure you get the best prices.
The store often has a deal that gets you 25% off when you buy six or more bottles, so look out for that.
It's all about deals, deals, deals
Speaking of which, most supermarkets will routinely offer wines at discount prices.
It might be a pricier place to shop generally but Jamie said Waitrose sometimes has 25% off its entire range.
"Every two months it will do a 'buy six bottles and you get 25% off everything' for a week," he said.
And the majority of main high street supermarkets run offers like this as well, including Tesco, Asda, Aldi and Lidl.
Morrisons runs "buy two, get one free" and" 25% off six or more bottles offers" as well.
Mix it up
Variety is the spice of life, and Jamie said finding the best bargains was about trying out new supermarkets.
Sometimes the ones you least expect might be running offers and discounts as well.
He said: "Be prepared to experiment, try a few different things out, then you won't get into a rut.
