I am 33 and have never had a boyfriend – I’m worried I might be totally unlovable

DEAR DEIDRE: I’M worried that I might be totally unlovable.

I’ve been told I’m good-looking and funny. I have a good job and plenty of friends but at 33 I’ve never had a proper boyfriend.

My childhood was fine but I led a sheltered life until I went to university, where I went a bit wild.

I had plenty of flings and one-night stands but nothing serious.

I look around and my last single friends are getting hitched and having kids. I feel like the last singleton standing.

My parents don’t have a good relationship and I don’t want what they have but I do want someone to love me.

Friends say I should be less picky.

DEIDRE SAYS: Perhaps you are subconsciously wary of potential partners as a result of observing your parents’ unhappy relationship – to the point of self-sabotage.

If this is ringing bells with you, there are strategies to help you shift your focus.

I am sending you my support pack on counselling to help you.
