Gordon Ramsay has been sharing plant based recipes on Instagram to mark Veganuary.
The challenge involves swerving animal products for the whole of January.
So the the celebrity chef has been promoting meat free meals being sold at his restaurants.
Bread St Kitchen has created a vegan version of beef wellington, which the 54-year-old star shared a picture of on Instagram
He wrote: “A vegan twist on our classic beef welly… try making @breadstkitchen’s delicious beet welly at home this #Veganuary.”
The snap garnered more than 152,000 likes – but some were very riled up at the thought of wellington without the beef.
DJ Will Clark responded: “Add some beef and it will be banging mate.”
Another commenter wrote: “No way. Very sad to see a wellington with beets. There are many other ways to cook vegetarian recipes.”
A third responded: “What the actual f***.”
Another argued: “Looks like s***. Real beef welly looks so much nicer and I bet 100% tastes nicer too.”
A fifth wrote: “Looks dry as f*** Gordon” and another added: “This is cursed”.
Despite the backlash, there were dozens of foodies who think the dish looks delightful.
An Instagram user gushed: “My favourite chef creates his most iconic dish and makes it vegan! This is gold.”
Another said: “Lmao! I didn’t think I’d see a day where Ramsay would be posting vegan things on social media. I like this version of him!”
And a third added: “So pretty! Not oil free but looks gorgeous and a heck of a challenge!”
