Parents have praised a ‘cooling mist’ sun protector, saying it is far easier to apply on children than sunscreen.

Mother Chloe Dillon from Runcorn, Cheshire, prompted a discussion about the £3.50 Asda Protect Cooling Clear Sun Mist in the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, which boasts more than one million members.

Writing on the group, the mother explained she had been searching for a spray that had the maximum five-star UVA protection rating after reading about the dangers of UVA rays.

Other members of the Facebook group also recommended the product, adding they had been using it for year

She wrote: ‘I always prefer a spray mist for holidays as its less messy and so easy to apply. After all the UVA star ratings in the news I realised that the one I was using was only two stars and three stars UVA rated.

‘I have struggled to find one with five stars and today I came across this is Asda and my prayers had been answered.

‘I was paying £7, £8… up to £12 for the previous ones and this little beauty has all the stars and UVB tested too ticks all the boxes and was a bargain at £3.50.’

The post racked up 398 comments, with many other parents sharing similarly positive experiences with the mist.

Chloe said she was looking for a mist with a five start UVA rating, as the one she’d be using were only at a two – and was delighted with Asda’s offering, pictured

Parents especially were enthusiastic about the product, saying it made their children love sunscreen

Some said they only bought products from Ali, Asda and Boots and had been disappointed by the big names such as Garnier Ambre Solaire and Nivea Sun.

‘This is brilliant. I’ve been using it for the last 2 summers and would never go back. Just spray on, no rubbing,’ said one.

‘I use this! Its brill! Also really refreshing in the heat as it feels cold on skin when spraying,’ added another.

‘Always buy Asda or Aldi never had problems with them,’ one wrote.

‘I use this and my kids love getting suncream on now, there’s no more argument when I top it up either as it cools them down too,’ one mother wrote.

People swore by products from affordable brands like Asda, Lidl and Aldi, and said they worked better than well-known names
