Chrissy Teigen defended her new love of horseback riding after she was criticized for sharing videos of her hobby amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Over the weekend, the 35-year-old model told fans that she’d taken up riding as part of her therapy following her pregnancy loss last year.
“My therapist says I need something that I do for just me, as I have absolutely nothing currently lol. Today begins my journey into the horse world. I hope this dude likes me. he’s so handsome and appears lazy, I love,” she tweeted on Saturday.
But one critic blasted the celeb for saying she had “nothing” during a pandemic when many people can’t even put food on the table.
“A lot of people are unemployed and struggling to feed their family in the midst of a pandemic. Maybe now isn’t a great time to say you ‘have nothing’ so you bought a horse to entertain yourself,” the critic tweeted.
Teigen then clarified what she meant in her original tweet.
“a lot of u really misinterpreted this tweet and I guess that’s on me,” she wrote. “I didn’t say I have nothing, I said I have nothing I do for just me. A convo with a therapist. A hobby. Cause I lost a baby. And I’m figuring myself out. And i didn’t buy a horse. But oh my god, what if I did?”
When another troll responded again by saying that Teigen must be “poisoned by wealth and privilege,” she wrote back, “why are you guys reading into this so much? the boredom.”
And when the troll continued to bate the model, she fired back, “I do understand. What do you want from me, an essay about me, thinking about you? It’s my Twitter. I’m talking about me?”
Teigen suffered a pregnancy loss in October 2020 after experiencing complications.
The next month, she revealed that she was four weeks sober.
Teigen and husband John Legend are the parents of daughter Luna, 4, and son Miles, 2.
