Real Housewives of Miami star Guerdy Abraira has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The Bravo star, 45, shared the news on Instagram, explaining that it took ‘a while’ for her to process it.
She began a lengthy caption: ‘In March, I found out some news about my health. I was in St. Barts having the time of my life when my doctor called me with results following a regular mammogram checkup. I have breast cancer.
‘It took me a while to process it all and this is why I took a break from social media last month as many noticed.
‘Many of you reached out to check on me and I am thankful for your caring gestures.
‘For now I am preparing for my upcoming surgery and then will come my treatment plan. This process is definitely intense and what I ask of you is empowerment not pity.’
Discussing the diagnosis, the event stylist vowed to battle her illness as she does with everything else in her life – in her own way.
‘I will “Guerdyfy” this cancer as I Guerdyfy everything else in my life,’ she continued.
‘I am lucky that this breast cancer was discovered at an early stage – it is still scary of course, but I have love and support from those around me and that alone is the fuel that I need.’
Guerdy concluded the post by urging others to get checked out as soon as they can, adding: ‘For those who do not get health checks regularly, I urge you to. Your life depends on it.’

Guerdy is married to her high school sweetheart, Russell Abraira, and the couple share two children together.
She joined the Bravo fold for season four of the Real Housewives, alongside Nicole Martin, and became a firm fan favorite with viewers.
The cast were recently rocked by another health scare after Julia Lemigova’s wife, Martina Navratilova, announced that she had been diagnosed with throat and breast cancer, at the very beginning of the year.
In March, the tennis ace confirmed that she was ‘cancer free’ after undergoing radiation treatment.
