Over 200 pokémon are expected to return in the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet DLC, but there are some odd omissions.
Considering Pokémon Sword & Shield didn’t bring back every pokémon, it was safe to assume that the same would apply for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, especially considering there are now more than 1,000 of the things.
However, with the announcement of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s two DLC expansions, Game Freak will be adding more returning pokémon alongside the new ones.
A handful have been confirmed already, but a datamine is believed to have uncovered all 200+ Pokémon that are planned for the DLC, which is roughly the same number that was added to Sword & Shield with its DLC.
Apparently, these were discovered because Game Freak added and then deleted their pokédex entries from Scarlet & Violet, but traces of that data remained.
Twitter user Matt, who shared the list, adds that this is exactly what Game Freak did with Sword & Shield’s DLC, which is how its returning pokémon were leaked ahead of time.
We won’t be sharing the full list, since it is very, very long, but what this means is that all the pokémon will either be available for capture in the DLC or at least can be transferred to Scarlet & Violet from previous games.
This is because Pokémon Home (the online app that lets players store their pokémon and transfer them between games) is already compatible with Pokémon Legends and will become compatible with Scarlet and Violet this year.
Although Hisuian Zorua and Zoruark aren’t included, the recent Pokémon Presents confirmed that players can obtain the latter as a bonus for pre-ordering the DLC.
Surprisingly, the datamine makes no mention of any returning legendary or mythical pokémon like Mewtwo or Celebi. Sword and Shield made it possible to capture almost every single one of these with its Crown Tundra DLC, so it’s unclear if Scarlet and Violet’s DLC will offer something similar.
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is available for Nintendo Switch.
The Teal Mask DLC is scheduled for this autumn, while The Indigo Disk DLC is scheduled for this winter.
