Montblanc Drops Fitness-Focused Take On Its Summit Smartwatch

Montblanc has expanded its Summit smartwatch line with a new lightweight, fitness-focused version made from recycled aluminum.

While Montblanc pitched the original Summit and Summit2 at the premium end of the smartwatch market and sought to recreate the appearance its own mechanical watches in their designs, the new Summit Lite is free of such legacy codes, instead offering a contemporary new design, streamlined functionality and a reduced sub $1,000 price point.

The 43mm smartwatch is constructed from stainless steel and lightweight recycled aluminum and is offered in matte black and matte silver finishes, while rubber and fabric strap options make for four distinct references.

The Summit Lite uses a 1.19in AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass and features an updated heart rate monitor and GPS unit, while using the Wear OS by Google operating system for compatibility with both Android and iOS smartphones.

Montblanc has also installed a suite of proprietary fitness apps including Cardio Coach, Body Energy, Sleep and Stress.

The Summit Lite is available now via Montblanc, priced $860 USD.
