L'Epee Fast Track II Desk Clock Inspired By Golden Age Racers

Swiss clockmaker L’Epee has revisited its sports-car-as-clock Time Fast series with a new desk clock based on the racers of the 1960s.

Opting for the two seater, enclosed wheel silhouette that conquered Le Mans, Sebring and Daytona, L’Epee debuts Time Fast II in five different colors.

The clock uses the same material that was used for the cars that inspired it, with an aluminum H-chassis holding its 8 Day 2.5Hz movement in place.

The three-spoke steering wheel is then used to set the time, with hours and minutes displayed on the ‘air filters’ feeding the clock’s V8 engine, the pistons of which can be set in motion with the flick of ignition key. The escapement is visible under the ‘driver’s helmet’, while the main spring sits in the passenger seat.

The clock’s manual stick shift doubles as a selector between winding the timekeeping movement, winding the piston mechanism and neutral. Winding is taken care of by turning the rear wheels by rolling the car backwards.

The Time Fast II is available now in five colors – with 99 pieces of each available – from L’Epee retailers, priced $42,500 USD.
