British actress Indira Varma has now been cast in the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Probably best known for her role as Ellaria Sand in HBO’s Game of Thrones, Varma is currently starring in ABC’s For Life, and her previous works include Crisis, The One and Only Ivan, Patrick Melrose, Paranoid, and Carnival Row. While her character in the upcoming Star Wars series is still being kept under wraps, she’ll be joining the ranks of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, who are both reprising their roles as the titular Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.
As for the series itself, the story follows the old Jedi Master and the Sith Lord 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, following the slaughtering of the Jedi as a result of Order 66. Information regarding Vader’s involvement remains scarce, but Obi-Wan — who by then goes by the alias of Ben Kenobi — will be on Tatooine, watching over a young Luke Skywalker from afar.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is currently scheduled for a 2022 release.
Elsewhere in entertainment, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man contract is ending after No Way Home.
