Elizabeth Olsen Advises New MCU Actors to Sign Short-Term Contracts

At this point in her career, Elizabeth Olsen is a veteran of the Hollywood industry and has a breadth of experience. As a major part of Disney‘s Marvel Cinematic Universe, Olsen is giving sound advice for new actors looking to join the magical world.

The WandaVision star recently spoke to Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, discussing how actors nowadays should agreed to only one Marvel project so that they can gain more “creative control” for the next ones to come. Horowitz asked Olsen if actors ever come to her for advice about joining the MCU. Olsen responded, “I’ve had some people ask about it.” The actress added that she would often tell them to “just give them one [film.] Olsen explained, “That way you have more control over…If you, let’s say, ‘Oh my God, this is the most fun I’ve ever had and I love this character so much, I want to do it again,’ you now have more creative control for the next one.” She then joked, “Don’t tell [David] Galluzi that. [He’s] business affairs at Marvel.”

Olsen’s role in the MCU has seen her play Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch since 2014, all while reprising her character in other Marvel projects like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and two Captain America films, as well as the last three Avengers along with the TV series spinoff WandaVision. Previously, Olsen has stated her frustrations over her contractual obligations with Marvel which have caused her to stop appearing in a number of indie projects. Currently, another WandaVision spinoff is in the works with Kathryn Hahn.
