Ant and Dec have spilled on their ‘surreal’ staying in the room next to King Charles in an encounter that proves real life can be stranger than fiction.
The I’m A Celebrity hosts revealed they had been invited to the British monarch’s Scottish residence Dumfries House while speaking to Good Morning Britain at the coronation.
Dec, 47, was astounded to learn that they would be kipping in the room right next door to Charles’ bedroom, having previously assumed ‘we’d be in a wing somewhere down the end of the estate.’
‘We were literally in the next-door bedroom which meant we had to keep the noise down a bit,’ Dec said while turning red.
‘Not that we’re noisy,’ he quickly clarified while laughing.
Ant, 47, then explained he left the room with Dec jumping in and exclaiming: ‘You had an encounter with him on the stairs!’
Ant continued: ‘And I walked out of the door as I thought it’s not like I’m going to bump into him but he was there with a pair of secateurs. And I was like, “Hi,” and he was like, “Hi.”
‘And then he goes, “It’s always best if one prunes the roses oneself, don’t you find?” And I went, “Absolutely.”’
‘We had no idea we were going to be next door so that was quite a surreal night,’ Dec remarked in what might be the understatement of the century.
