Saira Khan’s adopted daughter, Amara turned 10 on Sunday, 7 March. To celebrate the milestone, the former Loose Women panellist posted a touching photo of the moment the pair met one decade ago.

Saira adopted Amara when she was just four days old back in March 2011. “10 years ago I travelled to the Edhi Orphanage in Karachi Pakistan to adopt a little girl,” she explained to her Instagram followers.

“If you ask. The Universe delivers. I believe in the stars, fate, and destiny. This photo is proof of all that,” Saira wrote beneath a birthday snap of Amara and the family pooch. “Against all the odds I can say today, Happy 10th Birthday my beautiful daughter Amara. You were my rainbow wish”

Saira added: “Wishes come true if you really believe in them and help to make them happen.”

The proud mum-of-two already had her one year old son Zac when she and husband Steve Hyde decided to adopt. Saira and Steve conceived Zac through IVF, but it failed when they tried for a second baby.

Remembering the day she adopted Amara, Saira wrote: “This is the moment I met my daughter. Electricity ran through my body and fused us together. As soon as our eyes met and locked I knew I wanted to love and care for her everyday of my life.”

Saira went on to explain that she and Steve chose Amara’s name because it meant “immortal and peaceful.”

The 50 year old went on to thank those who guided them through the adoption process. “It’s her 10th birthday today. On this day we celebrate everyone who helped us to adopt our daughter.” Saira went on to name PACTcharity, Intercountry Adoption Centre, BBC journalist Mobeen Azhar and Khalid Waseem.

“Happy Birthday beautiful Amara. You are more than we ever imagined. Thank you for bringing us so much joy everyday,” Saira declared to her 94.5,000 Instagram followers.

Saira affectionately called Amara her “ little miracle,” claiming that she “was destined for [her]” and is “growing up to everything and more [Saira] would want in a daughter.”

In the past, Saira has revealed how adopting Amara helped her grow as a person. “Adopting her and going through the UK adoption “Parenting Programme” has made me a more insightful and grateful person,” she wrote back in February.

Saira also took the opportunity to thank her followers for their continued support.

She captioned her latest family snap: “Thank you to our amazing Instagram community. You are a wonderful group of humans, our second family. Thank you for your gorgeous messages today. So kind and thoughtful. Happy Birthday if you are celebrating your birthday today too.”
