Rebekah and Jamie Vardy to flee UK after Wagatha Christie trial

Rebekah Vardy and her husband Jamie are reportedly going to leave the UK for the US following the Wagatha Christie libel trial.

The wife of the professional footballer, 40, is currently embroiled a court case after Rebekah was accused by Coleen Rooney of leaking fake stories about her in October 2019 in a now-infamous Instagram post dubbed Wagatha Christie. Rebekah has always vehemently denied the allegations and sued 36 year old Coleen for libel.

The trial has not been an easy one as details of the lives of both parties have come out, including the bombshell WhatsApp messages shared between Rebekah and her former agent Caroline Watt.

But, no matter what the outcome, it's now been claimed that Rebekah and Jamie, 35, will leave the UK to start afresh across the pond.

“She’s keen to be out of the country as fast as possible," a source told The Sun.

OK! Online has approached both Jamie and Rebekah's representatives for further comment.

The development comes after Jamie recently hit out at Coleen's husband Wayne, 36, as he denied the former England star's claim he was asked to speak to the fellow footballer during the Euro 2016 about Rebekah.

Wayne claimed that ex-England gaffer Roy Hodgson and assistant manager Gary Neville asked him to have a word with Jamie about his wife, with the aim to try and get Rebekah to "calm down".

He explained it was as a result of apparent "negative media coverage" surrounding the mum-of-five, along with other "issues" that were said to be "causing problems and distractions for the England team".

Leicester player Jamie has refuted Wayne's claims in courts, shortly after Rooney gave evidence.

Speaking outside the High Court in London today, according to The Sun, Jamie said in a statement: "He must be confused because he never spoke to me about issues concerning Becky's media work at Euro 2016."

The star went on to say there had been "nothing to speak about".

"I know this because I discuss everything with Becky," he added.

Giving evidence in court, Wayne said the players had sat down together for a chat in the games room, where the Derby County manager had a coffee and Jamie sipped on a can of Red Bull.

"They asked me, as captain, would I be able to speak to Mr Vardy on issues regarding his wife and I think we all knew that it was an awkward subject," Wayne alleged. "I'd need to speak to Mr Vardy and ask him to speak to his wife and ask him to say to ask his wife to calm down."

He added: "It was an awkward situation for me and I'm sure it was an awkward situation for Mr Vardy, but I felt it was in the best interests of the team."

When asked to confirm if he was telling the truth about having the conversation with Jamie, Wayne insisted he was "under oath" and he "100 per cent spoke to Mr Vardy on the situation".

"If he wants to relay that back to his wife that's entirely his decision," the Liverpudlian said.
