It’s official, another royal wedding is upon us! This morning Buckhingham Palace released a statement announcing the engagement of 31-year old Princess Beatrice and her Italian entrepreneur boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie was the first to announce the engagement on social media, in an adorable post to the couple.
In fact, Princess Eugenie is responsible for the couple’s first engagement photos in which Princess Beatrice shows off a stunning three-diamond ring. The royal sister wrote, “Beabea – wow! I’m so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It’s been a long time coming and you two are meant to be. 📷 by me!!”
Upon closer look, the engagement ring features a round center diamond flanked by two baguette diamonds. It was designed by jeweler Shaun Leane, and is a fusion of Victorian and Art Deco designs. The stunning ring is accompanied by two matching bands—a signature of the jeweler. The design began with a consultation with the groom, the Mayfair-based Shaun Leane says via a statement. Similarly, Meghan Markle also has a triple diamond engagement ring.
Designer Shaun Leane says of the design, “I am so honoured Edoardo chose to work with me to design the engagement ring for Princess Beatrice and to have been involved in this special moment in their lives,” continuing, “The bespoke experience was a beautiful journey; from imagining the design with Edoardo to the crafting of the finished rings. Being able to incorporate both Edoardo and Princess Beatrice’s characters into the design has resulted in a unique ring that represents their love and lives entwining.”
The actual engagement is said to have taken place earlier this month while the couple were vacationing in Italy, ahead of Eugenie and Beatrice’s friend Misha Nonoo’s wedding in Rome. The wedding was also attended by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, along with Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, Karlie Kloss and other bold-face names. There is no word yet on when the wedding will take place.
