Kelvin Fletcher responds to negative comments about Death in Paradise debut

Death in Paradise: Kelvin Fletcher thanks fans for support

Ex Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher guest starred on Death In Paradise this week along with comedian Jason Manford. After the episode aired, the 37-year-old TV star took to Twitter to address some negative comments that he had received.

In a video posted on Twitter, Kelvin said some viewers had blasted his performance on the popular detective drama.

Following the show’s return earlier this month, the actor appeared in episode three of season 10.

Thanking fans for their mostly “lovely comments,” the father-of-two opened up about the not-so-nice ones.

He said, one person claimed that he only had two expressions throughout the whole episode.

The social media troll said he either looked constipated or bored.

Despite some of the mean comments, Kelvin told his 275,700 followers that he had really enjoyed watching his debut on the show.

He thanked viewers for reaching out to him in a minute long clip posted on the micro-blogging site.

Kelvin captioned the footage: “Thank you for your comments guys Hope you all enjoyed it! @deathinparadise.”

He said: “Hello guys, I just wanted to come on and say thank you to everybody – two videos in a day on Twitter, bl**dy hell, that’s a new record.

“Anyway, to say thank you for all your lovely comments, not just me but the show, I always enjoy the show but I thought it was extra special tonight with the cast and everything so really enjoyed it.

“Thank you for your comments, and even some of the comments that weren’t so nice. Thank you anyway.

He went on to say: “Apparently I only had two expressions one person told me and one was constipation and the other was boredom. So thank you guys for your comments.”

Earlier in the day, the former Strictly champion filmed his very first video for Twitter.

He was in Leeds ahead of an appearance on Steph’s Packed Lunch to talk about all things Death In Paradise.

The actor admitted that he was more used to recording videos for Instagram.

Over on the picture-sharing site, he spoke about his time on the island of Guadeloupe with his co-stars while filming the show.

Kelvin posted pictures with his fellow guest stars Laura Aikman, Faye Mckeever and Jason and joked that they looked more like holiday photos.

“Ok so I know these look like holiday snaps but honestly we did work! As hopefully you will all see tonight 9pm BBC 1,” he wrote online ahead of the show.

“I had the most amazing time and made some friends for life,” the former soap star added.

“From climbing an (active) volcano to kayaking to a deserted island we all fell in love with the beautiful Island of Guadeloupe. At times my belly hurt with laughter.

“Honestly what a dream team to work with @jasonmanford @lauraikman @fayemckeever @holliejedwin #deathinparadise.”
