Hollyoaks star Abi Phillips took to Instagram to share some exciting news with her followers and announced that she is engaged to her partner of 11 years.
The soap star, 28, posted an adorable snap with her husband-to-be as she showed off the stunning diamond with an impressive Italian landscape in the background.
Abi also shared a close-up of the huge ring, a stunning landscape snap, and a selfie where the gorgeous actor held her hand to her chest.
She captioned the photos: “So this happened last night!
“The most magical week in Lake Garda, with my favourite person in the world @gavgilly ended with us getting engaged the most perfect proposal at sunset at the edge of the lake.”
The bride-to-be continued: “The last 11 years together have been the best of my life and I’m so looking forward to forever together thank you for making this trip the most incredible week, it will forever hold a place in my heart.”
She finished off the caption by gushing over her fiance and wrote: “I love you so much!”, along with a red heart emoji.
Fans rushed to congratulate the actress on her engagement, one fan wrote: “ABI GILL IS ABOUT TO BECOME THE REAL ABI GILL !!! So unbelievably happy for you guys. The biggest congratulations to a very very special couple xxxxxx enjoy the celebrations.”
Another commented: “How fabulous and at one of the most beautiful places on earth- congratulations to you both x”, while another said: “Aww this is beautiful! Congratulations so happy for you!”.
Abi’s romantic engagement with her beau followed after she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last year at 28.
After a series of tests, on May 9 2022, Abi shared that she was “not expecting for one moment to get the news that I did.”
The actress went into detail about her journey and explained that she had previously visited doctors about two lumps on her neck and they had told her there was nothing wrong.
After she saw Love Island's Demi Jones talk about her battle with thyroid cancer, Abi decided to see a specialist and within weeks was diagnosed herself.
At the time Abi said: “I never thought I would be told that I have cancer at the age of 28, you never think it's going to happen to you.”
She then prompted her followers to check themselves and push for an answer if they find anything out of the ordinary.
"If ever you find a lump or something unusual on your body, never just think it's nothing, don't be told that you're fine by the GP and you're 'young', always get things checked out by a specialist if you can and insist on tests even if it turns out to be nothing, as catching things early is crucial for a good prognosis."
