Britney Spears sons heartbroken and devastated by her book bombshells

When Britney Spears released her tell-all memoir last week, she celebrated the fact she was able to share “my story, on my terms, at last”.

But while she’s finally telling her truth after years of being silenced, there are fears that the book could damage her already strained relationship with her teenage sons beyond repair.

A source close to Britney has claimed that Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17, who are currently estranged from the pop star, have been left feeling “heartbroken” by some of the bombshell revelations.

“The children are absolutely devastated,” our source said. “They feel the book is way too much. If Britney wants to reconnect, they feel she is going about it the wrong way.”

In The Woman In Me, Britney, 41, revealed for the first time that she had a secret abortion while dating Justin Timberlake. She also claimed that she was “clueless” that ex-husband Kevin Federline, the father of her boys, had a family and a baby on the way when they met in 2004.

She wrote, “Kevin had a bad boy image. Still, I had no idea when we met that he had a toddler, nor that his ex-girlfriend was eight months pregnant with his second baby.”

The source continued, “Kevin is also devastated at the way he has been portrayed. The kids are heartbroken. They’re innocent, they shouldn’t be put through this.

“The abortion was one of the most upsetting things in the book. It was difficult for her sons, who would have been related to that unborn child, to read that.”

They added, “The boys are really worried about their mum. They have always been hopeful of having a relationship with her one day, but the book has burnt so many bridges it is hard to see that happening now. It’s very sad.”

Former dancer and DJ Kevin, 45, who Britney divorced in 2007, now lives in Hawaii with his wife Victoria Prince and his six children, including Sean and Jayden.

It’s believed that Britney hasn’t seen her sons in more than a year after they decided to cease contact. In a joint interview with Kevin last year, Jayden said of his mother, “I love you a lot. I hope for the best for you. Maybe one day we can sit down like this and talk again.”

He also said he and his brother “have both been through so much pressure in the past”, and that his father’s house “is our safe place now, to process all the emotional trauma we’ve been through”.

Sean and Jayden chose not to attend Britney’s wedding to Sam Asghari, who she split from in July, last summer. Jayden later said, “I’m really happy for them, but she didn’t invite the whole family, and then if it was just going to be me and Preston, I don’t see how that situation would have ended on good terms.”

During the interview, Jayden also defended his grandfather, Jamie, against fans who opposed his past role as Britney’s conservator – in which he had control of her life and finances for 13 years. He said that Jamie “doesn’t deserve all the hate he is getting” but admitted that the conservatorship “did go [on] for a little too long”.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, Britney responded to Jayden, saying, “I didn’t do anything wrong and I know I’m not perfect, but the love I’ve given you and how much I adore you, and your diplomatic way [of] speaking like Paw Paw [Jamie Spears]… ‘This can be fixed, I will see when she’s better?’ Jayden, it was a miracle I could even have a normal conversation when I got out of that place.”

She added, “My love for my children has no boundaries and it deeply saddens me to know his outcry of saying I wasn’t up to his expectations of a mother…”

Britney has voiced her desire to have a relationship with her children on multiple occasions. In 2022, she shared photos of them on Instagram and wrote alongside, “To both of my boys … I love you … I would die for you!!! God speed my precious hearts!!! I would give anything just to touch your face!!!…”

Britney has even dedicated the book to them, writing, “For my boys, who are the loves of my life.”

The singer has insisted that the purpose of her book wasn’t to “offend anyone by any means”. She wrote on Instagram, “Most of the book is from 20 years ago… I have moved on and it’s a beautiful clean slate from here.”

Last week, she also shared her excitement at its huge success, saying, “My book is the highest selling celebrity memoir in history and it’s only day 1!!! Thank you to the fans who have been so supportive!!! Love you all.”
