Alison Hammond has shared a heartbreaking tribute to her mum, Maria, on the second anniversary of her death.
The TV presenter’s mum sadly passed away from liver and lung cancer in January 2020 and Alison took to social media to remember her two years on from her passing.
Alison, 46, posted a photo of her mum and posted an emotional tribute on Instagram, writing: “Mummy Two years today you left me and the pain has never left my heart. I love and Miss you sooo much . I hear and feel you all the time . My Angel Maria”.
Fans were quick to post messages of support for Alison.
One wrote: “Sending you so much love. She must have been incredible to have a daughter like you”.
Another added: “Nothing worse than losing your Mum. Know her love is within you always”.
Meanwhile, a third person said: “Don’t you look like her. 2 beautiful ladies. Sending love it’s so hard isn’t it
On Valentine’s Day 2020,Alison shared the news that they had laid her mum to restat a “beautiful” funeral and dedicated the day to her.
At the time, she wrote: “Today I dedicate Valentine’s Day to my beautiful , wonderful Mother Maria who passed away from liver and lung cancer.”
"Yesterday my family and I celebrated her amazing life and laid her to rest in a beautiful ceremony she would have been proud of.
"Thank you mummy for giving me the strength to move forward in the knowledge that your ok and with God in Heaven now. I will always remember you and try and make you proud. I love you mum."
Last year,Alison opened up on “find new Christmas traditions”after the loss of her mum.
Opening up about how her and her 16 year old son Aidan would be spending a second Christmas without mum and grandma, Alison said: “"We always play board games so that’s a bit of a thing and a tradition we always do as a family."
Alison continued: "I always go to my sister’s on Boxing Day and I used to go to my mum’s on Christmas Eve but it’s the second Christmas without her so it’s a bit weird, and we’re just trying to find new traditions really."
In a 2019 interview with OK! magazine, Alison explained how her mum was a pivotal part of Christmas Day, revealing that she used to wake up at 2am to cook the turkey. "It's crazy. I'm not doing that. I need my beauty sleep!" she added.
